E.G. Areshev then gave the floor for the opening address to Chairman of the Board of CJSC “NTC GEOTECHNOKIN”  T.V. Khismetov. E.G. Areshev also pointed out that CJSC “NTC GEOTECHNOKIN” is the leading company providing a wide variety of services in the sphere of reserve development monitoring by methods of nuclear geophysics. T.V. Khismetov covered in his speech the goals of oil reserve development, which can be solved with a help of nuclear physics methods used in GWL, as well as long-term trends in research work.

Round table 3

Reports given and discussed: G.G. Yatsenko, Director General of OJSC Scientific-Industrial Center “Tvergeophysica”, E.P. Bogoliubov, Head of Department of VNIIautomatica n.a. N.L. Dukhov, R.S. Khisamov, Chief Geologist – Deputy Director General of OJSC “Tatneft”.

The reports of the specialists from “Tvergeophysica” G.G. Yatsenko, F.Kh. Enikeeva, A.F. Boyarchuk touched upon methodological foundations and requirements concerning the technology of spectrometric pulse neutron gamma-ray logging, presented practical data on reserve extension and additional exploration of oil and gas reserves in long-developed fields, based on data of NPM GWL. They also considered techniques for geomodelling reserves under development, using NPM GWL data for fast decision-making on geological and technical operations and a number of other issues.In their speeches, A.M. Tupytzin and A.A. Chikhirin, representatives of oil production companies TNK-VR – OJSC “Orenburgneft”, Oil and Gas Production Department “Sorochinskneft”, LLC “Buguruslanneft”, commented on the high effectiveness of research, conducted with a help of NFM GWL. The works conducted have made it possible to:

  • determine the areas for long-term additional exploration within the      boundaries of existing fields;
  • discover new producible reservoirs and previously overlooked      reserves;
  • assign      higher reservoir categories      to some fields.

Research with a help of NPM GWL has allowed to draw some nondrainable reservoir into development volumes by additional perforation of certain unworked bands, which weren’t previously identified as oil-saturated ones.

NPM GWL is one of the main instruments of searching for overlooked oil reserves, used by OJSC “Orenburgneft”. Only over 2010-2011 the research results helped this company to ensure a growth in developed reserves of 3.5 million tons. Additional oil production from new wells was over 150 thousand tons.

Round table 4

S.V. Ivanov, Director of Assets Portfolio Management and Resources Development Technology Department of OJSC “TNK-VR Management”

In OGPD «Sorochinskneft» in 2009-2011 there was conducted 21 operation of formation commingling at T1 Samodurovskoye field with a help of NPM GWL, the additional production thereof amounted to 87.5 thous. By contract with NPC “Tvergeophysica”, “Sorochinskneft” has launched a pilot project, involving adjustment of  a 3D hydrodynamic model to specific values of oil saturation factor in specific wells on various dates. This allows to get more exact evaluation of operating thickness and effectiveness of reserve recovery.At the fields of LLC “Buguruslanneft” the Nuclear physics methods complex (in various modifications) has demonstrated high efficiency when used in research of both practically undocumented wells of the old well stock and new small-diameter wells, including sidetracking cases. The researchers used the petrophysical tomography system INGKS-2-73 (D 73 mm). This apparatus, meeting world standards, was developed in Russia for research in small-diameter wells (starting from 83 mm) and sidetracks.It has been noted that the geological data received enhances and makes more accurate the geological and hydrodynamic models of reserves and can be the basis for effective decision-making.
